Sunshine returns just in time for Friday as winds pick up across the state this afternoon. Outdoor burning is highly discouraged as much of the state deals with a worsening drought. Highs will return to the 90s this afternoon, warmer than on Thursday. We\u2019re tracking a cold front set to move across the state on Saturday. This will bring a chance of showers and storms, primarily across East and North Texas Saturday afternoon. Some storms could be strong with small hail and strong winds. Once the front blows through North Texas, temperatures will plummet some 15 degrees from the mid-90s Saturday to highs in the upper 70s Sunday. Sunday will be the pick day statewide with cooler highs in the 70s and 80s.<\/p>\n

Only about one-fifth of applicants for federal disaster assistance from Kerr County, Texas, have been deemed eligible to get financial help so far, leaving hundreds without governmental aid more than three months after deadly floods ravaged the county on July 4.<\/p>\n

Watson\u2019s decision comes a week after the governor threatened to pull funding from cities that don\u2019t obey his orders to\u00a0remove \u201cpolitical ideologies\u201d from streets. The move angered communities supportive of Austin\u2019s LGBTQ+ pride rainbow crosswalk and \u201cBlack Artists Matter\u201d street mural.<\/p>\n
