Said Sturgeon, “I’m especially excited about Boxes at Sublett because it will bring extra-small retail spaces for micro-enterprises that are not available anywhere in Tarrant County to an innovative community like Arlington with its many attractions.”<\/p>\n Boxes at Sublett is not Sturgeon’s first shipping container development. His first such project was Box Office Warehouse Suites<\/a> located in the Fort Worth Design District and built using more than 120 shipping containers. Another development, Mouser Self-Storage in Alvarado, was designed to offer affordable storage for personal items, cars, boats and RVs. Ron’s experience working with eco-friendly containers was so positive that, in 2022, he decided to build himself (and his fianc\u00e9e) a stunning 3-story home using shipping containers tied to a central steel superstructure on slab foundation. The energy-efficient home is replete with state-of-the art amenities including a temperature controlled 9-car garage to house his automobile collection and a 3rd floor master suite along with a pool, heated hot tub, and wrap-around patio.<\/p>\n The soon-to-open Boxes at Sublett retail center is situated at 5100 W. Sublett Road in Arlington, right next to Sublett Center<\/a>, a traditional retail center also owned and operated by RDS Real Estate. Sublett Center is anchored by one of the more than 22 Salon & Spa Gallerias located throughout the greater Fort Worth area. Much like Boxes at Sublett, the Salon & Spa Galleria<\/a> model was designed with the small business owner in mind, offering small but luxurious salon suites for rent by independent beauty and wellness professionals who wish to serve clients in a professional yet affordable manner.<\/p>\n Sturgeon is pleased that the Grand Opening of the new center is, at long last, within sight. According to Ron, the process required by the city of Arlington to develop the project was way beyond unreasonable. As an advocate for small businesses, Sturgeon hates to see unnecessary barriers to progress. “The current codes and processes are so restrictive that they can become a real barrier, especially for entrepreneurs who don’t have the resources to invest so much time and money in a process with no guarantee of success.”<\/p>\n Added Ron, “It took us 4 years of delays and red tape to get all the necessary approvals for this project. They seemed to want to fight us all the way. But finally, Arlington will get a new small shopping center, specifically designed to appeal to micro stores, offices, hobbyists, and so on.
