Thanks to a generous $11,000 gift from the Lubbock-based Pickering Family Foundation, Lubbock Lights is raising its NewsMatch<\/a> fundraising goal to $30,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so excited to partner with your amazing nonprofit and are so excited for the awesome things you are doing in Lubbock,\u201d said Jenea Stone,\u00a0foundation president. \u201cWe challenge Lubbock to help Lubbock Lights meet this higher goal, allowing them do more quality local news for the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking for myself and our board of directors, we\u2019re thrilled and humbled with this gift from a family that\u2019s done so much for Lubbock.<\/p>\n

This all started when we signed up for NewsMatch \u2013 a program of the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN) \u2013 of which we\u2019re a member. They\u2019ll give us $15,000 if our audience can match it with individual gifts up to $1,000.<\/p>\n

INN members are also allowed to raise more money to increase the amount we\u2019re asking our readers to match.<\/p>\n

So we\u2019ve now raised an additional $15,000 we\u2019re asking our readers to match between now and the end of the year.<\/p>\n
