SAN ANTONIO \u2013 The inaugural San Antonio Marathon<\/a> is around a month and a half out. <\/p>\n

The San Antonio Marathon, set to succeed the Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roll Marathon Series, will feature a new route that passes through some scenic and historic neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

The neighborhoods include Olmos Park and the Historic King William District. <\/p>\n

The marathon\u2019s theme, \u201cWhere Every Step Tells a Story,\u201d aims to showcase the rich character of San Antonio as runners take on the full 26.2-mile course. <\/p>\n

Runners will start downtown and then proceed into King William.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, yes, yes. I live in the neighborhood, love the neighborhood, love running through it. I\u2019m super excited that it\u2019s coming back through,\u201d said Kimberly Aubuchon, a member of the Alamo City Trail Runners and longtime resident of King William. <\/p>\n

Aubuchon said she plans to set up a cheer station to inspire runners of all speeds during the race.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the coolest thing to see the fastest runners and also the very last runner,\u201d Aubuchon said.<\/p>\n

John Doski, president of the King William Association Board of Directors, said the neighborhood takes pride in welcoming visitors, especially during significant events. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a chance to showcase the neighborhood. There is significant pride and ownership here,\u201d Doski said. \u201cHaving such a large crowd come through and enjoy it. It\u2019s amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

A little over halfway through the marathon \u2014 around mile 15 \u2014 runners will pass through Olmos Park.<\/p>\n

Katie Best-Richmond, owner of Rose Hip Market on Olmos Drive, said she\u2019s thrilled the race will pass directly in front of her business.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m super excited about it. This is such a special little section of the neighborhood,\u201d Best-Richmond. \u201cWe have such amazing small businesses and people that are on this stretch, so I\u2019m excited to cheer on people, but then also have new people who haven\u2019t been to this part of the neighborhoods before- run by.\u201d <\/p>\n

Rose Hip Market is planning a festive \u201crace party\u201d to mark the occasion.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want all the neighbors to come out, people to come camp out with us during the marathon, and we\u2019ll also be giving little samples of our pickle lemonade,\u201d said Best-Richmond.<\/p>\n

Event Coordinator Kristan Forbis added that they\u2019ll be incorporating a Taylor Swift-inspired twist. <\/p>\n

\u201cWith the Taylor Swift album that came out, The Life of a Showgirl, we\u2019re doing The Life of a Race Girl,\u201d Forbis said. \u201cWe\u2019ll have friendship bracelet stations and posters, so you can make a poster to cheer on runners.\u201d<\/p>\n

The San Antonio Marathon is scheduled to take place on Dec. 7. <\/p>\n
