Take a look at busy evening across the Texas Panhandle and South Plains that included Amarillo High hosting Plainview and Tascosa playing Lubbock High. <\/p>\n<p>Amarillo High opened District 3-5A in a strong way by getting a 73-50 win against Plainview on Friday night at the AHS Activity Center. <\/p>\n<p>The Sandies have started the year at 12-3, and are now 1-0 in league action. Plainview falls to 4-8 on the season and 0-1. <\/p>\n<p>AHS got off to a fast pace in the win over the Bulldogs taking a 22-12 lead after one. Richards was on his game most of the night, knocking down six free-throws in the first quarter to find a rhythm, then hit a pair of 3-pointers along with way to pour in a team-high 21 points. Hud Shaffer complimented Richards with 17 points, getting nine of those in the second half, and Bilal Ismail added 14.<\/p>\n<p>Tascosa, Lubbock Monterey and Lubbock-Cooper all came away with wins to open 3-5A on Friday night. <\/p>\n<p>The Rebels defended home court in a 75-41 thumping of Lubbock High at home Friday. Tascosa is now 1-0 in district and 10-3 overall. LHS falls to 0-1 in the league and 3-9. <\/p>\n<p>Ben Kenney paced the Rebels with 19 points. Teammate Ty Collins added 14 with teammates LaDarius Godbolt and Demarcus Gilmore each chipping in 13. <\/p>\n<p>Lubbock Monterey pulled away from Caprock at home to open 3-5A with a 79-48 victory. The victory puts the Plainsman at 1-0 in district and 11-3 on the year. Caprock slips to 3-8 overall and 0-1. <\/p>\n<p>Elijah Smothers and Sam Arrington combined for 51 points against the Longhorns. Smothers scored a game-high thanks to an impressive 31 points, as Arrington followed with 21. <\/p>\n<p>Lubbock-Cooper was able to get district started with a 54-42 win at Lubbock Coronado on Friday night. That puts the Pirates at 6-7 on the season and 1-0 in 3-5A. [Roy Wheeler\/ Press Pass Sports]<\/p>\n<p>Amarillo High stays unbeaten in district<\/p>\n<p>It was another night at the office for Amarillo High, as the Lady Sandies cruised to a 62-31 home win against Plainview.<\/p>\n<p>The Lady Sandies stay atop the district race at 3-0 while moving to 15-3 on the year. Plainview falls to 10-6, 0-3. <\/p>\n<p>AHS guard Tyler Held had a huge night. Held hat the hot-hand scoring a game-high 26 points, including 11 in the second quarter to pace the Lady Sandies. Teammate Kensleigh Payne added 10 points to get into double-digits and Kam Soukup added eight. <\/p>\n<p>Tascosa, Monterey, Coronado get victories<\/p>\n<p>Tascosa, Lubbock Monterey took care of business while Lubbock Coronado used a huge fourth quarter to down Lubbock-Cooper.<\/p>\n<p>Tascosa wasted no time jumping all over Lubbock High in a complete 91-7 decimation. The Lady Rebels keep up with Amarillo High at 3-0 in District 3-5A, and are now 15-1 overall. <\/p>\n<p>Alex Carter registered a game-high 21 points with Analia Humphrey scoring 15 to put the charge in Tascosa. Nic\u2019Kiyah Fisher tallied 14 and Devaeh Johnson chipped in 11.<\/p>\n<p>Monterey ran past Caprock 75-36 on Friday. The Lady Plainsman have now won two in a row since a district-opening loss to Coronado. With the victory, Monterey improves to 2-1 in the league and 12-5 overall. <\/p>\n<p>Ari Johnson finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double. Ambrosia Cole scored a game-best 24 points. <\/p>\n<p>Coronado used a huge fourth quarter to take down Lubbock-Cooper 65-48. Coronado (5-12) has been off to a strong district at 2-1.
