LAWTON, Okla. (December 13, 2025) \u2014 Lubbock Christian University fell to Cameron University 87-83 on Saturday at Aggie Gymnasium, suffering their first lost of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Chaparrals outscored the Aggies 49-47 in the second half, but could not overcome the first-half deficit and CU’s hot shooting. The team scored 46 points in the paint and forced 10 turnovers, while CU’s perimeter shooting, including 10 three-pointers, proved decisive.<\/p>\n
Lubbock Christian now stands at 9-1 overall and 3-1 in Lone Star Conference competition. CU got its first LSC win and holds a 4-7 overall record.<\/p>\n
The Chaps began the game with high energy, matching Cameron’s early pace. Amondo Miller Jr.<\/a> led the charge, contributing with a fast-break layup and a dunk, helping the Chaps take an early lead at 8-7.\u00a0<\/p>\n As the half progressed, the Chaps experienced a brief scoring drought, allowing the Aggies to stretch their lead to seven points. Lubbock Christian rallied late, with Dow’s three-pointer at 0:41 narrowing the deficit and his free throws in the final seconds closing the first half at 40-34 in favor of the Aggies.<\/p>\n Lubbock Christian narrowed the gap early in the second half, initiating with a layup by Dow at the 19:44 mark. Just two minutes in, Alex Anamekwe<\/a> hit a pair of free throws to tie the game up at 40. The visitors briefly took the lead at 17:03 with a 3-pointer from Lucas Mercandino<\/a>, assisted by Miller Jr., but the game remained tightly contested with CU responding swiftly to regain the advantage.<\/p>\n Despite trailing at various points, the Chaps kept up the pressure, with Dow’s layup with just 10 minutes to go, leveling the score again at 59\u201359. Miller Jr. contributed significantly with a fast-break at the 8:20 mark, tying the game once more. The Aggies responded with a 6-0 run and kept pressing, leading by 11 again with just under six minutes to play.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Chaps closed the game on a 7-0 run, but it was too little, too late as they fell 87-83.\u00a0<\/p>\n Miller Jr. scored 23 points, adding eight rebounds and four assists while also recording two steals. Dow finished with 22 points, connecting on three 3-pointers and securing three rebounds. Pusateri contributed with 14 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, alongside three assists and two steals. Anamekwe posted 14 points, including two 3-pointers, and collected seven rebounds.<\/p>\n GAME NOTES: NEXT UP:
\n– CU shot 53.1 percent from the field, which is the highest opponent field goal percentage the Chaps have allowed this season. The last time they allowed a better opponent shooting percentage was 11\/9\/24, when Regis shot 61.1 percent.
\n– Miller Jr. now has seven games with at least 20 points this season and still leads the Lone Star Conference with 22.6 points per game.
\n– LCU’s 26.9 percent shooting from behind the arc is their second-lowest of the season.
\n– Pusateri’s 15 rebounds were not only a game-high, but were a season and career high, surpassing his previous high of 13 on 11\/1 against UVA Wise.
