{"id":88854,"date":"2025-12-15T18:32:06","date_gmt":"2025-12-15T18:32:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/88854\/"},"modified":"2025-12-15T18:32:06","modified_gmt":"2025-12-15T18:32:06","slug":"city-of-corpus-christi-urges-residents-to-recycle-right-after-the-holidays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/88854\/","title":{"rendered":"City of Corpus Christi urges residents to recycle right after the holidays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Solid Waste Services shares tips on what belongs in recycling bins and where to drop off holiday items.<\/p>\n<p>CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 Corpus Christi Solid Waste Services is asking residents to take a few extra minutes during post-holiday cleanup to recycle properly.<\/p>\n<p>City officials say the weeks\u00a0after\u00a0the holidays bring a\u00a0big jump\u00a0in cardboard, packaging, and other materials that can be recycled if sorted properly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe holiday season creates a lot more waste, which makes this a really important time for recycling,\u201d said Philip Aldridge, director of Solid Waste Services. \u201cBreaking down boxes and recycling items like gift packaging can make a big difference. When residents stay consistent now, it helps us meet our sustainability goals all year long.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nWhat can be recycled?                    <\/p>\n<p>Put these items in blue carts:<\/p>\n<p>Flattened cardboard boxesPaper items like catalogs, mail, magazines, newspapers\u00a0and\u00a0greeting cards without glitter or foilEmpty, clean\u00a0and\u00a0dry cans and plastic containersPlastic bottles (remove caps and lids)                    <\/p>\n<p>These items do not belong in blue carts:<\/p>\n<p>Holiday decorations like ribbons, bows, garland, lights\u00a0and\u00a0ornamentsWrapping paper or cards with glitter or foilStyrofoam, bubble wrap\u00a0and\u00a0padded envelopesPlastic bagsDisposable batteries                    <\/p>\n<p>Residents are also reminded not to overfill their carts.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nDrop-off options                    <\/p>\n<p>Some items should be taken\u00a0to the J.C. Elliott Transfer Station at 7001 Ayers Street.<\/p>\n<p>Live Christmas trees: Bare trees can\u00a0be dropped off\u00a0from December 26 through January 31, 2026. A drop-off container is available near the main gate\u00a024\/7. Trees with artificial snow\u00a0are not accepted\u00a0in the recycling container, and\u00a0artificial trees must be taken\u00a0inside the station.
