It\u2019s big return happened in 2023, but the 3rd Annual Houston Mediterranean Festival, hosted by <a href=\"https:\/\/stgeorgehouston.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/stgeorgehouston.com\/\">St. George Orthodox Christian Church<\/a>, returns Oct. 24 and 25 with two full days of food, music, and family activities. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 kNAFkD cuqaEv article-text\">Festival chair Rana Abercia stopped by Houston Life to give viewers a preview and share a taste of the traditional flatbreads that will be served, including flatbreads topped with za\u2019atar or cheese.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Abercia, a Houston native with Lebanese roots, said the event celebrates the diversity of the city while preserving the traditions of Mediterranean culture. Parishioners and volunteers with backgrounds from Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Greece, Spain, and beyond come together to cook, serve, and host guests.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">This year\u2019s festival will run Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at St. George Orthodox Christian Church. Entry is $5, and kids under 4 get in free.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Food is the headline attraction, with favorites like chicken shawarma, kafta burgers, kabobs, gyros, falafel, flatbreads, and pizza. Sweet options include baklava, kanafe, anise cookies, and booza, a stretchy traditional Palestinian ice cream.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Guests can also enjoy church tours, a marketplace, silent auction, raffles and live performances from dabke dancers and Arabic singers to oud instrumentals and LED drum shows.
