The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a missing persons bulletin<\/a> after the state\u2019s former first lady went missing Thursday night. She appeared to have been found<\/a> in good shape Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cReceiving reports that Julie Straus has been found and is safe. Praise the Lord!\u201d Republican congressman posted on X Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Hours earlier he praised Straus for being \u201cas sweet and as strong as they come\u201d and asked for the public to be on the lookout.<\/p>\n

The San Antonio Express-News confirmed Strauss was safe<\/a> Friday afternoon. Texas Public Radio reported that she seemed to be in good health<\/a>. It\u2019s not clear where Strauss had been.<\/p>\n

Officials posted a silver alert<\/a> for the 64-year-old Texan who was last seen Thursday at 6:40 p.m. near San Antonio. The silver alert system is designed to notify the public of missing older adults with a documented mental condition.<\/p>\n

Straus is married to former Texas House Speaker Joe Straus<\/a>, 66, who left that job in 2019 after a decade of service. That made him the longest-serving Republican Speaker in state history<\/a>. He and his wife have two adult daughters.<\/p>\n

The former speaker\u2019s successor, Dennis Bonen, also had kind words<\/a> for the missing former First Lady before she was found.<\/p>\n
