CORPUS CHRISTI, TX \u2013 At today\u2019s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, the Council approved an Interlocal Agreement with the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority (LNRA) for the design of a pump station expansion at the LNRA facility in Edna, Texas. <\/p>\n
The project will bolster the resilience of the Mary Rhodes Pipeline and Pump System by permanently installing a redundant pumping assembly located at LNRA\u2019s pump station.<\/p>\n
The improvements will be made at a pump station that pumps water from Lake Texana into the Mary Rhodes Pipeline.\u00a0 Water is then transported to the O.N. Stevens Water Treatment Plant through the Mary Rhodes Pipeline and two additional pump stations. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a cooperative effort between LNRA and the City.\u00a0 The investment into this critical infrastructure will improve system resilience,\u201d said Corpus Christi Water Interim Chief Operating Officer Nicholas Winkelmann. \u201cHaving backup equipment installed permanently means fewer disruptions when faced with operational challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n
The LNRA, which operates Lake Texana and manages regional water supplies, will oversee the construction work. The City has worked with LNRA since 1993 to deliver Lake Texana water to Corpus Christi. <\/p>\n
