Dallas Mavericks owner and casino magnate Miriam Adelson<\/a> urged President Donald Trump<\/a> to run for a third term in 2028. <\/p>\n

At a White House Hanukkah party on Tuesday, Adelson, who has poured hundreds of millions of dollars into Trump\u2019s candidacies and Republican causes, said she spoke with prominent attorney Alan Dershowitz about the possibility of Trump serving four more years. <\/p>\n

\u201cI say Alan, I agree with you, so we can do it,\u201d Adelson said, standing next to Trump at the podium, prompting some in the crowd to break into a chant of \u201cFour more years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adelson whispered something to Trump, who announced she pledged to donate \u201canother $250 million\u201d if he runs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will give,\u201d Adelson confirmed.<\/p>\n

Trump has repeatedly floated the idea of running for a third term, which is prohibited by the Constitution<\/a>. One of the bestsellers in his online store is a \u201cTrump 2028\u2033 hat, which is passed out as souvenirs to lawmakers and other visitors at the White House.<\/p>\n

In March, Trump told NBC News, \u201cThere are methods which you could do it.\u201d Longtime Trump ally Steve Bannon<\/a> told The Economist in October there is a plan to circumvent the 22nd Amendment, which states that \u201cno person shall be elected to the office of the president more than twice.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTrump is going to be president in \u201928, and people ought to just get accommodated with that,\u201d Bannon told the outlet.<\/p>\n

That same month, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson<\/a>, R-La., said Trump is \u201ctrolling the Democrats\u201d and knows he cannot run again.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe president knows, and he and I have talked about the constrictions of the Constitution, as much as so many of the American people lament that,\u201d Johnson said at a news conference. \u201cI don\u2019t see a way to amend the Constitution, I don\u2019t see the path for that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One in October, Trump conceded that he cannot run again<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you read it, it\u2019s pretty clear,\u201d Trump said. \u201cI\u2019m not allowed to run. It\u2019s too bad.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adelson, whose family owns the Las Vegas Sands casino, is an Israeli-American physician and one of Trump\u2019s staunchest supporters. Speaking at the Israeli parliament this year, the president described a nearly open-door policy at the White House<\/a> for Adelson and her late husband, Sheldon Adelson.<\/p>\n

In Texas, Adelson and her family have spent millions of dollars to push for legalizing casino gambling<\/a> and sports betting.<\/p>\n
