Partnerships are building across Dallas Fort Worth six months out from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n
Michael Jacobson is President and CEO of the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce and says they are looking at the event as an opportunity for the entire North Texas region.<\/p>\n
“There are multiple organizations from our Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, from our Economic Development Corporation, from the City itself, our Chamber,” Jacobson said.<\/p>\n
He says they have already been having regular meetings and town halls to see how the various agencies and entities can provide support to each other.<\/p>\n
“This is, you know, like nine Super Bowls over 31 days,” Jacobson said. “We definitely have to be prepared, but it is what we do.”<\/p>\n
Even though the North Texas matches will be played at AT&T Stadium, he says they have not tried to nail down the economic benefit to the City of Arlington itself because of how spread out the World Cup will be.<\/p>\n
Organizers are predicting anywhere from $1.5 to 2.1-billion in economic benefits in North Texas.<\/p>\n
