The Texas Rangers<\/a> officially announced a few moves Thursday morning with an eye on 2026 spring training.<\/p>\n

The club announced it had agreed to minor-league deals with seven players<\/a>, including veteran catcher Jos\u00e9 Herrera. Joining Herrera on the list of signings were infielder Jonah Bride, right-hander Gavin Collyer, catcher Cooper Johnson, infielder Andrew Velazquez, left-hander Anthony Veneziano and utility player Tyler Wade.<\/p>\n

Each of those deals comes with an invite to the Rangers\u2019 spring training camp.<\/p>\n

Herrera is a notable addition to the Rangers\u2019 catching platoon. <\/a>The club has prioritized that position over the offseason, signing Danny Jansen<\/a> after winter meetings concluded.<\/p>\n

Johnson is a familiar face for the Rangers, as he was a non-roster invitee for spring training in 2025. Collyer also has experience with the organization, making appearances at Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock last season.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Bride previously had some success playing under new Rangers manager Skip Schumaker.<\/a> Bride, who turns 30 on Dec. 27, slashed .276\/.357\/.461\/.818 in 71 games and 272 plate appearances for Schumaker\u2019s Marlins in 2024.<\/p>\n

Velazquez and Wade bring versatility for the spring. Velazquez, who spent the 2025 season at Triple-A Scranton\/Wilkes-Barre, has seen starts at shortstop, second base and third base. Wade, who played in San Diego for the 2025 campaign, played in seven defensive positions last year.<\/p>\n

Veneziano<\/a> rounds out the non-roster invitees. He posted a 4.68 ERA in 26 games with Miami and St. Louis last season.<\/p>\n

The Rangers also announced some key dates for their 2026 spring training camp. The club\u2019s first pitcher\/catcher workout is scheduled for Feb. 10, while the first full squad workout is set for Feb. 15.<\/p>\n
