Today, the Corpus Christi festival features 180 costumed performers, a 50-member chorus and orchestra, and audience participation in singing traditional Christmas carols.

The festival also includes a Red-Tail Hawk from the Hawn Wild Flight Program at the Texas State Aquarium and authentic Renaissance costumes and scenery. Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations for the Food Bank of Corpus Christi.

Since its start in Corpus Christi around 1980, the festival has been a community effort, with church members creating costumes, sets, music, and performing in the pageant. Over the years, performers often grow into new roles, keeping the tradition alive.

For South Texas families, the Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival remains a cherished way to extend the joy of Christmas, blending centuries-old tradition, music, and pageantry.

More from 3NEWS on KIIITV.com:

Subscribe to our YouTube channel for your daily news and exclusive extended interviews.

Do you have a news tip?
