EL PASO, Texas (KTSM<\/a>) \u2014 A 58-year-old man and his son were arrested after an assault investigation resulted in an officer being injured last month at Chico\u2019s Tacos, according to the El Paso Police Department (EPPD).<\/p>\n

Shortly after 4:20 p.m. on Nov. 22, EPPFD officers responded to an assault-in-progress call at the Chico\u2019s Tacos located at 1365 George Dieter Drive.<\/p>\n

The initial investigation resulted in the arrest of 58-year-old Jose Valles Rios for groping a woman who was standing in line with her child. He was charged with assault with a $242 bond, according to police.<\/p>\n

While officers were investigating, the arrestee\u2019s adult son, 38-year-old Vicente Rios, who showed signs of intoxication, repeatedly interfered with the investigation despite being told multiple times to leave the area.<\/p>\n

As the arresting officer prepared to take the arrestee, Vicente Rios again approached the offices and refused \u201clawful commands,\u201d according to police. When the officer attempted to detain Vicente Rios, he resisted arrest, leading to a physical struggle where the officer sustained a knee injury during the encounter.<\/p>\n

Vicente Rios was charged with attempt to take a weapon from an officer, resisting arrest, search or transport, and interference with public duties with a total bond of $20,000.<\/p>\n

The incident remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
