{"id":93763,"date":"2025-12-19T04:42:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T04:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/93763\/"},"modified":"2025-12-19T04:42:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T04:42:09","slug":"corpus-christi-deputy-fire-chief-named-fire-chief-in-washington-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/93763\/","title":{"rendered":"Corpus Christi Deputy Fire Chief named Fire Chief in Washington state"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After 27 years with the Corpus Christi Fire Department, Deputy Chief Kenny Erben is headed to Washington to lead Spokane County Fire District 8.<\/p>\n<p>CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 Corpus Christi Deputy Fire Chief Kenny Erben has been selected as the next fire chief for Spokane County Fire District 8 in Washington state, ending a 27-year career with the Corpus Christi Fire Department.<\/p>\n<p>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kiiitv.com\/article\/news\/local\/corpus-christi-firefighters-iron-man-vision\/503-4e6cf506-1168-446f-aefe-14b122ac60c9\" class=\"cms__embed-related-story__link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Corpus Christi firefighters get \u2018Iron Man\u2019 vision<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Erben will retire from CCFD as he transitions to the new role, where he will oversee fire and emergency operations for the growing district northeast of Spokane.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to announce that Deputy Chief Kenny Erben has been selected as the fire chief for the Spokane County Fire District 8 in Washington State,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/CorpusChristiFD\/posts\/pfbid025zsYEZBkwCuaTz6ExiaY5mxAR9NENXuNFkPsH5528P4r7aVM2334LHUJ4jvPZbkxl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the department said in a statement.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Erben, a U.S. Army veteran, completed a 19-month overseas deployment as a combat engineer during Operation Iraqi Freedom while serving with CCFD.<\/p>\n<p>Erben began his career on B-shift at Station 1, serving on Medic 1, Engine 1 and Truck 1. He later promoted to driver on Engine 5, where he worked in the department\u2019s hazardous materials program.<\/p>\n<p>After promoting to captain on Engine 5, Erben transitioned into the rescue program, working on Engine 3 and Rescue 3. As a battalion chief, he served as Battalion 1 and Battalion 2 and acted as the department\u2019s Special Operations Coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"photo__placeholder\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/ba50aad2-5199-48ec-8666-2f59a23629eb_16x9.jpg\"\/><br \/>\n                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"photo__main\" loading=\"eager\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/ba50aad2-5199-48ec-8666-2f59a23629eb_1140x641.jpg\"  alt=\"\" style=\"opacity:0\" onload=\"this.style.opacity=1\"\/><\/p>\n<p>For the past nine and a half years, Erben served in operations leadership roles, first as assistant chief and later as deputy chief.<\/p>\n<p>He also spent nine years with Texas A&amp;M Task Force 1 as a rescue specialist before serving as a task force leader, medical unit leader, and chair of the Wildland Medical Support Committee for the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force.
