{"id":93970,"date":"2025-12-19T10:25:15","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T10:25:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/93970\/"},"modified":"2025-12-19T10:25:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T10:25:15","slug":"txdot-hosts-public-project-hearing-about-plans-to-expand-fm-179","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/93970\/","title":{"rendered":"TxDOT hosts public project hearing about plans to expand FM 179"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; Community members were able to talk directly to TxDOT officials about one of the state\u2019s upcoming roadwork projects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">TxDOT hosted a public meeting Thursday evening to discuss the state\u2019s plans to expand FM 179 from Highway 62 to FM 1585.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Once the construction is finished, 179 will be widened and include a left turn lane, traffic signals and lighting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">KCBD spoke to one of TxDOT\u2019s engineers. She said it\u2019s important for you to know of the construction ahead of time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s always better when the public is aware it\u2019s happening before it\u2019s happening so we have these public meetings to address what\u2019s important to the homeowners and business owners in the area,\u201d said Kylan Francis, deputy district engineer for TxDOT.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">If you weren\u2019t able to make the meeting, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.txdot.gov\/projects\/hearings-meetings\/lubbock\/2025\/fm179-roadway-rehabilitation-project.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.txdot.gov\/projects\/hearings-meetings\/lubbock\/2025\/fm179-roadway-rehabilitation-project.html\">find the presentation on TxDOT\u2019s website<\/a>.
