Former NFL<\/a> linebacker Myles Jack is facing felony charges after he was arrested Tuesday morning during an encounter with Frisco police conducting a welfare check, according to a news release Wednesday. <\/p>\n

Frisco police said in a statement that officers responded about 5:40 a.m. Tuesday to a welfare concern at a home in the 2400 block of Haft River Road. The officers heard gunshots from inside the residence as they arrived, the release said. <\/p>\n

Police said they immediately set up a perimeter and evacuated several nearby residences. Officers witnessed someone breaking a second-story window at the home before a man, later identified as Jack, climbed out and fell, the release said. <\/p>\n

Jack, 30, was taken into custody shortly after 7 a.m. and transported to a local hospital, the release said. He was treated for \u201cnon-life-threatening injuries sustained from his fall from the second story window.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jack is facing charges of deadly conduct \u2014 discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony, and discharge of a firearm, a Class A misdemeanor, the release said. Online jail records did not indicate Wednesday if Jack was still in custody or if he has posted bond. <\/p>\n

A statement from Jack\u2019s family provided Thursday afternoon by Jack\u2019s attorney, Chris Lewis of Chris Lewis & Associates, said the family is taking this situation very seriously. <\/p>\n

\u201cAs a mother, my natural concern has always been the physical and mental well-being of my son,\u201d the statement from La Sonjia Jack said. \u201cWe understand there are questions, and we believe they deserve to be addressed carefully and with the appropriate time and consideration.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement was made on behalf of the Jack family and co-owner of the Allen Americans hockey team. <\/p>\n

Police said no one else was found inside the home. Authorities did not immediately say who requested the welfare check.<\/p>\n

A former second-round NFL pick from UCLA, Jack contributed at linebacker with four seasons of at least 100 tackles in his eight-year career. His last game came in 2023 for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he is best remembered for his six seasons in a Jacksonville Jaguars uniform.<\/p>\n

Prior to the NFL, the Arizona native was a two-time All-Pac 12 honoree for the Bruins and was considered among the top prospects at linebacker for the 2016 NFL draft.<\/p>\n
