Two men were arrested after a 53-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the 400 block of North Mesquite Street early Dec. 19, Corpus Christi police said.<\/p>\n
At 12:47 a.m., Corpus Christi police officers were dispatched to the downtown area in reference to a shooting. Officers found the victim and began administering first aid until medics with the Corpus Christi Fire Department arrived, the police department said in a news release.<\/p>\n
The man was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. The name of the victim has not been revealed as of Dec. 20.<\/p>\n
Due to the nature of the call, the Criminal Investigation Division was called to the scene, where investigators determined several people had been involved in a physical altercation and a weapon was produced, the news release said.<\/p>\n
Two men were detained on scene in relation to the shooting. Macario Trevino, 39, and Sabastian Espinoza, 23, were taken into custody on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, the news release said.<\/p>\n
Officers believe this was an isolated incident. The investigation is active and ongoing.<\/p>\n
