Mills Ave., will have an opening reception for an exhibit of Lea\u2019s work that illustrated Carl Hertzog\u2019s 1962 book, \u201cForty Years at El Paso.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The special event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 at the hotel. Admission is free with registration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The book recounted W.W. Mills\u2019 experience in what was then a small adobe settlement in the mid- to late 19th century.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The illustrations created by Lea for the book bring Mills\u2019 experiences to life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In partnership with the Tom Lea Institute, the hotel will host an exhibit of 22 illustrations done by Lea, along with a display of the original book.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The illustrations are scheduled to be on view through March 2026.
