\n\tIn her new Disney+ docuseries Taylor Swift: The End of an Era<\/a>, Swift uses episode four, \u201cThank You for the Lovely Bouquet,\u201d to explain how the Kansas City Chiefs star first landed on Andrea Swift\u2019s radar. It\u2019s the same episode where she looks back on the stretch of the Eras Tour<\/a> defined by her splits from Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy<\/a>, summing it up with the line, \u201cMen will let you down, the Eras Tour never will.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAndrea says she first clocked Kelce the way most people did in 2023 \u2014 by scrolling. \u201cI\u2019m looking at the headlines and perusing around on the Internet and I see that this guy came to your show and he brought a friendship bracelet and wants to meet you,\u201d she recalls. Curious, she went to her \u201cresident expert on the Kansas City Chiefs,\u201d cousin Robin. \u201cTell me about this guy named Travis Kelce,\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n

\n\tRobin\u2019s review did the heavy lifting. \u201cOh my God, he is the nicest guy! And he really loves his mom,\u201d she reportedly told Andrea. That was enough for Andrea to describe it as a \u201cDing, ding, ding, ding\u201d moment in the doc \u2014 the green flag that made her start quietly connecting the dots.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSo you call me with this tone of, \u2018Hey, I know you\u2019re not gonna react well to this, but there\u2019s a guy\u2026\u2019\u201d Swift remembers. Andrea jumped in with, \u201cHe\u2019s really cute!\u201d before delivering the line her daughter still quotes back: \u201cYou gotta start doing something different.\u201d Swift jokes that she\u2019d always been \u201cvery non-athlete\u201d and genuinely wondered what they\u2019d even talk about on a date.<\/p>\n

\n\tAndrea says she kept coming back to Kelce\u2019s bracelet move, calling it \u201cso earnest\u201d and \u201cthe sweetest thing,\u201d especially because he showed up with something from \u201cyour world.\u201d On their first date, Swift says Kelce literally had to \u201cexplain football\u201d to her \u2014 she calls it \u201cviolent chess\u201d in the episode. \u201cThen I became obsessed with him and therefore became obsessed with learning about football \u2014 greatest surprise of my life,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

\n\tBoth Swift and Andrea describe a clear shift once Kelce arrived. Swift notes she went through \u201ctwo breakups on the first half of this tour,\u201d while Andrea calls her future son-in-law \u201cone of the happiest people\u201d she\u2019s ever met who \u201cbrought a lot of happiness to the room.\u201d Swift adds that he\u2019s \u201ca real yes guy\u201d who thrives when \u201cthe lights are the brightest.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIt\u2019s another layer on a relationship already traced through family and friends \u2014 from one of Swift\u2019s BFF\u2019s sisters encouraging a Travis Kelce romance after a tarot reading<\/a>, to their early \u201cspark\u201d being detailed by an SNL trio<\/a>, to Kelce\u2019s own story about Swift\u2019s cousins snapping photos<\/a> in front of his locker. Now, the doc gives Andrea her on-record credit as the mom who quietly helped set up the NFL star Swift would allude to as her \u201cendgame.\u201d<\/p>\n
