CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 A late-night shots fired call at a Motel 6 on Paul Jones and South Padre Island Drive ended peacefully Sunday after officers evacuated nearby rooms and took a suspect into custody without incident, police told 3NEWS.<\/p>\n
RELATED: Corpus Christi honors lives lost to homelessness at annual memorial<\/a><\/p>\n Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department were dispatched to the 8200 block of S.P.I.D. after receiving reports of gunfire inside the hotel at 10:59 p.m., according to CCPD Public Information Officer Antonio Contreras.\u00a0<\/p>\n Contreras said that as officers responded, updates indicated that an occupant inside one of the hotel rooms had fired several gunshots. When police arrived, they were able to identify the room involved and immediately began evacuating adjacent rooms to ensure the safety of other guests.<\/p>\n After a short period, the individual inside the room exited peacefully and was taken into custody without incident. Contreras said no injuries were reported and no officers or hotel guests were harmed.<\/p>\n Authorities identified the suspect as 43-year-old Ngoc Tran.<\/p>\n Tran was arrested and charged with deadly conduct for discharging a firearm, theft of a firearm, unlawful carrying of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of metal or body armor.<\/p>\n Police did not release additional details about what led up to the gunfire or whether alcohol or other factors were involved.
