LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A social media video featuring an elaborate hot chocolate has transformed a quiet confectionery shop into the busiest spot in town, even as December temperatures reach near 80 degrees.<\/p>\n
Chickies Tasty Treats, a six-year-old business known for handmade chocolates and confections, now has customers lining up outside for their signature hot chocolate drink.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m proud of it. I\u2019m proud of our little kitchen and what we can do out of it,\u201d said owner Stephanie Lindblom.<\/p>\n
The drink features melted chocolate, marshmallow cream and torched whipped cream prepared individually by hand. Lindblom and her small staff have been working nonstop to meet unprecedented demand since the video gained traction online.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just funny we always had all of these things, you know but this year it decided to go crazy,\u201d Lindblom said.<\/p>\n
The three-person operation is experiencing its busiest period ever, with the team trying to keep pace with orders. While the shop has always served hot chocolate year-round, nothing prepared them for this level of interest.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just kind of crazy because we didn\u2019t expect it. We didn\u2019t expect that one video would go viral so far as to make this happen,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The owner hopes the attention will translate into sustained customer loyalty beyond the current social media buzz.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just want everyone to remember us come January when it slows down,\u201d Lindblom said.<\/p>\n
The shop is located at 4930 South Loop 289 #205 in Lubbock.<\/p>\n
