(Photo Illustration by Thomas Trutschel\/Photothek via Getty Images) <\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">Texas keeps track of the unclaimed property and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox4news.com\/money\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">money<\/a> owed to residents, and laying claim to yours is easy.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">Here&#8217;s how you can get what&#8217;s rightfully yours.<\/p>\n<p> Texas unclaimed property  <\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">Unclaimed property can be any financial asset or safe deposit box contents that have been abandoned by the property owner for one or more years.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">The Texas comptroller&#8217;s website lists the following examples of what property might be unclaimed:<\/p>\n<p> Abandoned bank accountsUncashed checksOverpaymentsPayroll and vendor checksUnredeemed gift cardsInsurance proceedsDividendsMineral interests  <\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">Businesses and government entities that do business with Texas residents, called &#8220;holders,&#8221; are required to submit annual reports to the comptroller each year.
