A Texas law firm is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and felony conviction of a hit-and-run driver whose 18-wheeler triggered a fatal crash that killed a Dallas father more than two months ago.<\/p>\n
The Bison Law Firm announced<\/a> the reward this week in an effort to identify the driver who fled after causing a four-vehicle collision on the northbound Dallas North Tollway near Spring Creek Parkway on October 21.<\/p>\n Investigators with the Texas Department of Public Safety said a white 18-wheeler towing a white dump trailer made an unsafe lane change just before 6 a.m., striking a Honda Civic driven by 47-year-old Juan Quiroz. The impact sent Quiroz\u2019s vehicle into a concrete wall, where it rolled over. A Ram 1500 and a Toyota Camry then collided with the Honda.<\/p>\n Quiroz, who was heading to work, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other drivers<\/a> were not seriously injured.<\/p>\n Authorities said the truck lacked visible company logos or a license plate, complicating efforts to identify it. It may have damage to the right side of the front bumper or the front right fender.<\/p>\n A limited image of the vehicle has been released and is now included on a wanted sign distributed by the law firm.<\/p>\n Brock Duke, an attorney with Bison Law Firm representing Quiroz\u2019s family, said the reward is intended to encourage witnesses to come forward.<\/p>\n \u201cTo get some answers for this family, some closure. Who did this? Why did it occur, and why is nobody coming forward and taking responsibility for what happened to this family?\u201d Duke said<\/a>, per WFAA.<\/p>\n Quiroz\u2019s daughter, Lama Quiroz, said the family has struggled through the holidays without him, describing her father as the heart of their home. She called<\/a> him \u201ca caretaker, a protector, someone who always worked and fought for the people he cared about.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNot as many laughs, not as many smiles,\u201d she told<\/a> CBS News Texas. \u201cHe would always have some dumb joke ready to tell.\u201d<\/p>\n Lama Quiroz said the uncertainty lingers painfully.<\/p>\n \u201cIt feels like we\u2019re waiting for a call that I\u2019ll never get,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n She expressed a desire to learn more about the incident, including \u201cThe identity of the driver \u2014 maybe where they were going, what they were doing, why they made that choice to just drive off like that.\u201d<\/p>\n While she has forgiven the driver, Lama Quiroz emphasized the need for consequences.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s no anger or hatred,\u201d she said<\/a>, per CBS News Texas. \u201cBut you broke the law, and justice has to be done.\u201d<\/p>\n
