Police are responding to a reported active shooter at Villanova University.

The Radnor Township Police Department confirmed the report of an active shooter and asked all nearby residents and students to shelter in place.

NBC News affiliate WCAU reports that students received an alert around 4:30 p.m. that read “ACTIVE SHOOTER on VU campus. Move to secure location. Lock/barricade doors. More info to follow.”

The university also asked students to avoid Scarpa Hall.
