FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The South Carolina Department of Public Health said multiple animals across the state have recently tested positive for rabies, including in two Upstate counties.
A rabid raccoon was found near Dove Lane and Knighton Chapel Road in Fountain Inn.
In Pickens County, another raccoon also tested positive for rabies near Mile Creek and Martin School roads.
In each incident, one dog was exposed to the animal. The dogs are being quarantined as required under state law
In addition to the Upstate incidents, a bobcat in Aiken County, a skunk in York County, and a fox in Berkeley County tested positive for rabies.
