On Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. the Cover 2 Cover Book Club will meet at the Scottsboro Public Library to discuss “We Are Not Like Them.” The book is authored by Christine Pride and Jo Piazza. The book is a Good Morning America Book Club pick and was named Best Book Pic of 2021 by Harper’s Bazaar and Real Simple.
The narrative is told from alternating viewpoints. The story is about the lifelong bond between a black woman and a white woman, whose friendship is changed by a tragic event. The book offers an exploration of race in America today and was written by two women with different racial backgrounds.
Christine Pride is a publishing veteran of over two-decades. In her publishing career, Pride edited and published a range of bestselling books. Her first work, as a novelist, was the Good Morning America Book Club Pick, “We Are Not Like Them,” written with Jo Piazza. On Wednesday, Sept. 10 The Paper Hearts Book Club will meet at the Scottsboro Public Library at 5:30 p.m. The group will discuss “One True Loves” by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The book is a romance novel, the title uses the word love in the plural form because a woman is left to choose between two men; one from her past and one who could be her future. The novel explores love, grief, and personal growth.
