First Alert Meteorologist Chris Holtzman says Saturday morning’s showers will also coincide with high tide along the coastline, resulting in a higher risk for additional flooding.

Officials say between half an inch and an inch of rain has already fallen across an area from the City of Charleston to James Island, north of Shadowmoss. The National Weather Service says Church Creek near West Ashley may also rise above flood stage Saturday morning.

Some areas that may see flash flooding include North Charleston, West Ashley, Downtown Charleston, James Island, Johns Island, Maybank Bridge, Charles Towne Landing, James Island County Park and Charleston Naval Complex.

Drivers in these areas are encouraged to avoid driving through flooded roads.
