LUDLOW, Vt. – Friends of the Fletcher Memorial Library (FML) in Ludlow hosted their annual book sale on Aug. 15 and 16. After weeks of planning and book sorting, we are happy to announce that the book sale was a great success, raising more than $1,800 to benefit the library. Some of the proceeds will go to purchasing passes for museums and parks, which patrons can check out, downloadable audio books and e-books, support for library programming and more.
We would like to thank our many volunteers who helped make the sale a success, including the Ludlow Fire Department, who lent us their large tents and sent volunteers to set them up and take them down; other community volunteers, who erected Friends of the Library tents and helped set up books; volunteers from Windsor County Youth Services, who lugged heavy boxes of books for us; Okemo Mountain Resort, who lent us tables for the books; Johnny’s Kitchen, who donated buckets; and Able Waste, for the dumpster. Special thanks to all the members of Friends of the Library for all their time and effort in making the sale happen. And, finally, for all the donations of books and the support of the residents and visitors to our town who came to the book sale and bought the books.
As a thank-you to the community, leftover books were free for the taking after the sale. Many people took advantage of this opportunity, and we were very glad to promote reading in our community. We also dropped off boxes of paperback books at the Ludlow Transfer Station’s Swap Shop, if you would like a free book.
