The Jaguars have been picked to finish first in the SWAC Western Division this season after going 8-5 overall in 2024. They went 7-1 in league play and fell to Jackson State in the SWAC championship game. NCCU is 47-51-1 all-time in season openers and 4-1 under Trei Oliver. The Eagles have won their last four season openers, including last year’s 31-24 victory over Alabama State.
