PHOENIX — If you’ve spent time walking around in Old Town Scottsdale, you may have noticed a giant sculpture outside of the new boutique hotel called The Remi.
“The Flame” is a 17-foot tall sculpture by internationally acclaimed South African artist Daniel Popper.
Popper is known for visionary works that combine nature and humanity. He describes “The Flame” as “a tribute to the transformative power of authenticity.”
What is ‘The Flame’?
“The Flame” is constructed from glass fiber and reinforced with concrete and brass. The materials mixed with daylight cause the formation to appear to shift and change color.
“Daniel Popper’s installations have transformed public spaces around the world, and we’re proud to be the home of his latest creation,” said Beth Brainard, general manager at The Remi. “‘The Flame’ embodies our vision of bringing art, culture and hospitality together in a way that feels both welcoming and unforgettable.”
It’s original purpose and design is intended to become a gathering point for visitors and residents to enjoy.
