FiberOne Broadband, Nigeria’s largest fibre-to-the-home internet provider, said it will launch a nationwide infrastructure and customer experience upgrade aimed at delivering faster, more reliable broadband and reshaping digital connectivity for homes and businesses.
Its expansion comes amid renewed efforts by the Nigerian government to deepen broadband penetration, which currently stands at about 48 per cent, and to support the growth of the digital economy.
The initiative, which the company described as a major milestone, will be carried out in phases over the next 15 months and is scheduled for completion by October 2026. FiberOne said the project represents a significant investment in both network technology and service innovation as it looks to strengthen its leadership in Nigeria’s fast-growing broadband sector.
The programme will focus on two main areas. The first is a last-mile FTTH infrastructure enhancement through the deployment of XGSPON fibre technology. According to the company, the technology will increase speed, reliability and scalability while preparing the network for emerging demands such as smart homes, 4K and 8K video streaming, cloud-based services and Nigeria’s expanding digital economy.
The second focus is a customer experience upgrade. FiberOne said it will introduce digital self-service tools, proactive support systems and improved service packages. The company said these tools are intended to give subscribers more control over their accounts, provide greater visibility into service restoration, improve communication channels and establish a new loyalty rewards programme.
“This upgrade is about preparing our customers for the future of digital connectivity,” Chief Executive Officer of FiberOne Broadband, Lanre Ore, told The PUNCH in a statement.
He added, “We are not only strengthening our last-mile fibre infrastructure but also transforming the overall customer experience, ensuring our users enjoy the fastest, most reliable internet in Nigeria with world-class service support.”
Ore said the combination of technical upgrades and customer-focused improvements reflects FiberOne’s long-term commitment to delivering “world-class broadband services” that meet the evolving needs of Nigerian households and businesses.
According to the company, the rollout will begin in Lagos, FiberOne’s largest market, before expanding to Abuja, Port Harcourt and other major cities. Customers will be informed in advance as each phase of the upgrade reaches their area in order to minimise disruption and ensure a smooth transition.
Since its incorporation in 2018, FiberOne has grown to serve more than 38,000 active customers across major urban centres, making it the country’s largest residential fibre provider.
Nigeria’s fragmented broadband market has seen a surge of investment from both domestic operators and international players. Analysts say providers are racing to capture households and small businesses as demand rises for high-capacity connections to support streaming, remote work and cloud-based services.
The company said the new upgrade reaffirms its commitment to powering homes, businesses and communities with “future-ready” broadband solutions, strengthening Nigeria’s broadband ecosystem and supporting the country’s digital future.
