Faissal Khan, younger brother of Aamir Khan, has announced plans to direct a multi-starrer film just days after declaring he has cut all ties with his family.

Faissal Khan, younger brother of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, is once again stepping behind the camera. After making his directorial debut with the 2021 psychological thriller Faactory—in which he also played the lead—and later featuring in the Kannada crime drama Oppanda (2022), the actor-filmmaker has now revealed plans for his next project.

Speaking to IANS, Faissal confirmed he has been preparing to direct a multi-starrer. “On the work front, I’m trying to start a film. I’ve written a couple of scripts in lockdown. Around fourteen actors have already liked the subject. It’s a multi-starrer film,” he said, adding, “I will be the director, I might do a cameo role in it, but I will be basically directing. Now, I’m moving more towards direction. But if I get some good role, I’ll do it.”

This announcement comes shortly after Faissal publicly declared he had cut all ties with his family, including his brother Aamir. He also revealed he would no longer accept the monthly allowance that Aamir had been giving him—support that began with ₹30,000 and gradually increased. According to Faissal, he had also worked as a “script doctor” for Aamir Khan Productions in exchange for the allowance.

In a series of startling allegations, Faissal accused Aamir and other family members of mistreatment. He claimed that years ago, he was forcibly confined at home for a year under the pretext of suffering from schizophrenia and later hospitalised in a general ward for 20 days alongside patients battling mental health issues. “I was locked up… they said I was mentally ill,” Faissal had said earlier, pointing fingers not just at Aamir, but also at their mother Zeenat Hussain, elder sister Nikhat Khan, and her husband Santosh Hegde.

The family, however, issued a strongly worded joint statement refuting Faissal’s account. Signed by multiple members—including Zeenat, Nikhat and Santosh, Aamir, Junaid Khan, Reena Datta, Farhat Datta, Rajiv Datta, Kiran Rao, Seher Hegde, Mansoor Khan, Nuzhat Khan, Imran Khan, Tina Fonseca, Zayn Marie, and Pablo Khan—the statement urged the media to refrain from sensationalising a deeply personal matter.

“We are distressed by Faisal’s hurtful and misleading portrayal of his mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, his sister Nikhat Hegde, and his brother Aamir. As this is not the first time he has misrepresented these events, we feel it necessary to clarify our intentions, and reaffirm our solidarity as a family,” the statement read.

It further added: “It is important to share that every choice regarding Faisal has been taken collectively as a family, in consultation with multiple medical professionals, and has been based on love, compassion, and a desire to support his emotional and psychological wellbeing. For this reason, we have refrained from publicly discussing the details of a painful and difficult period for our family.”

Despite the turmoil, Faissal appears determined to focus on his creative path. With a new script in hand and a multi-starrer project in the pipeline, the actor-director is looking to re-establish himself in the industry on his own terms, stepping out of the long shadow cast by his famous surname.
