With the launch of the Pixel 10 series, Google added Android 16 features that work with the newly announced Pixelsnap accessories. Here’s how Google’s new screensaver mode works with the Pixelsnap charger.

The Pixelsnap Charger is a brand-new charging dock for Google’s Pixel devices, as the name would imply. It comes in two pieces: the unpowered stand itself, and a magnetic charging puck that clings to your Pixel 10 with hidden Qi2 magnets. The two pieces fit together, so you can travel with the puck or use the stand to charge at home.

The charger can power the Pixel 10 Pro XL at 25W, while the rest of the series gets an acceptable 15W.

The Pixel 10 now has a neat little trick when it senses it’s been connected to the Pixelsnap Charger. When a connection is secured for the first time, the Pixel 10 will immediately suggest that the user turns on the screensaver feature.

Hitting continue will showcase several different screensaver options while the phone is charging, including:

Home Controls

Pixel Weather

Everyday Clock

Analog Clock

Selected wallpaper

These options are exactly what they sound like. The Home Controls screensaver will let you quickly turn on/off smart devices connected to Google Home, and Pixel Weather will display the current weather forecast for your location. The clock options simply display time, while the wallpaper screensaver will display your favorite images.

This will work for the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. With the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, the option to leave your phone unfolded is there, making the screensaver feature all the more useful.

According to Google, the Screensaver feature is designed to specifically activate with the Pixelsnap Charger Stand. The Pixelsnap Charger Stand is available from Google for $69.99, and it replaces the 2nd-gen Pixel Stand.

The Pixel 10 series is available for pre-order now.
