LIV Golf highlights: Phil Mickelson vs Jon Rahm in Michigan

Highlights from Jon Rahm’s 2-and-1 win over Phil Mickelson in semifinals of LIV Golf Team Championship Michigan at Saint John’s, Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025.

Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton outdueld Bryson DeChambeau and Paul Casey on the second playoff hole to win the LIV Golf Michigan Team Championship to give Legion XIII the $14 million first-place prize.

Their teammates Caleb Surratt and Tom McKibbin cheered them on after tying Crushers GC following 18 holes of stroke play Sunday at The Cardinal at Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth Township.

Hatton’s clutch birdie on No. 18 in regulation tied it up, and both Rahm and DeChambeau birdied No. 18 to force extra holes.

Hatton and DeChambeau each made birdie on the first extra hole, and Hatton and Rahm birdied it the second time, after Casey’s long putt just missed and DeChambeau’s chip was wide from the rough.

As captain, Rahm had his choice of playing partner for the final foursome. He chose Hatton, who shot four-under-par 66 and finished with four straight birdies beginning on the 17th hole. Rahm shot 65.

DeChambeau had the best round of the day with eight birdies for a 62. Casey shot a steady 65, with just one bogey.

The final was played as stroke play with three teams, Crusher, Legion XIII and Stinger, in the championship bracket.

Each player on the winning team received $1.4 million of the $50 million purse. The runners-up earned $800,000 each. Stinger players each earned $600,000.
