The 13th annual edition of the CP3 Rising Stars National Camp was held once again this weekend in Winston Salem.  Many of the top underclassmen in the 2028 and 2029 classes participated in the event.

One of the perks for the young players is getting to tour the in-state Atlantic Coast Conference campuses in the state.  Duke, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, and yes, North Carolina hosted some of the best freshmen and sophomores in the country on Friday.

The Tar Heel coaches were not allowed to meet and greet the prospects, but that may not always be the case.  These caliber of players are the ones who could potentially be taking official visits in the future.  Here is a list of the players who earned their way to the 2028 All-Star Game

2028 Red All-Star Team

Brady Pettigrew

6-3, 170, Bolingbrook, Illinois.

Offers: Florida, Missouri, Nevada, Northern Illinois, Valpo, Western Illinois

Scouting Report:  “He is smooth in his demeanor when looking to score and involve others.  Pettigrew can drill open threes and get to the rim where he finishes with great touch. He shows great instincts towards taking what the defense gives him and caught our attention with his skill in making the right basketball play.” – Brandon Jenkins

Malik Moore

6-3, 175, Plainfield, New Jersey.

Offers:  Hampton

Scouting Report:  “A quick lefty with some flash to his game, Moore can really put the ball on the floor and get to his spots. He is a creative finisher at the rim, has floaters in his arsenal, and looks like he should be a pretty reliable jump shooter with time. He’s probably more of a natural scorer than a playmaker for others at this juncture, but with his ability to get downhill, there’s a lot to like about him as he moves forward.” – Eric Bossi

Abraham Taiwo

6-8, 205, Long Island, New York.

Offers:  Illinois, Kansas State

Joshua Lindsay

6-0, 180, Louisville, Kentucky.

Offers:  Auburn, Ohio

Kareem Smith-Bey

6-4, 170, Washington D.C.

Offers: Old Dominion

Kevin Wheatley Jr.

6-6, 200, Bronx, New York.

Offers:  Auburn, Georgia Tech, Rutgers

Scouting Report:  “When it comes to pure physical tools and looking the part, few in the E15 can match Wheatley. He’s already big and strong for his age, is a plus athlete, and even better than that, he looks to have a game that matches his frame and athleticism. While his shot selection could use a little fine-tuning, he has the ability to stretch defenses beyond the three-point line, and he can finish through contact. If he keeps growing, we could see him becoming more of a natural small forward, and if not, the focus should be on tightening up his handle a bit.” – Eric Bossi

Antoine Caughman Jr.

6-4, 180, Columbia, South Carolina

Offers:  Charlotte,

Scouting Report:  “We had a chance to see Caughman during the spring and summer with the Upward Stars 15U team in Adidas 3SSB play and while he didn’t score as much at Crossroads as he did when we saw him previously, he did a lot of nice things. A long-armed athlete with great instincts on both sides of the floor, it was fun watching Caughman committing to playing defense and doing all of the little things in a camp setting. His two-way potential makes him a potentially valuable prospect.” – Eric Bossi

Braxton Bogard

6-8, 210, Severn, Maryland.

Offers:  Mississippi State, West Virginia.

Scouting Report:  “He owns the glass, runs the floor and has some scoring chops and the bounce to go over a defender when needed. His take no prisoners physicality was a welcome site at (Crossroads Elite Invitational) camp.” – Eric Bossi

CJ Moore

6-5, 180, Columbia, South Carolina.

Offers:  Charlotte

Scouting Report:  “Standing 6-foot-5, maybe even 6-foot-6, Moore is a long armed small forward from Columbia (S.C.) Ridge View and the Upward Stars 3SSB program. A big-time athlete with tremendous instincts who flies up and down the floor in transition, Moore already plays well above the rim. He’s got tremendous switchability on defense, showed some nice things off the dribble and did just enough with the jumper to make defenders respect him from deep. Given his athleticism, it’s hard to believe that he’s still only 14-years-old and that he could easily be part of the class of 2029 by age.” – Eric Bossi

Xavier Hall

6-9, 220, Salemburg, North Carolina.

Offers: Cincinnati, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest.

Chris Paul Jr.

5-11, 145, Valley Village, California.

Devin Mitchell

6-3, Cucamonga, California

2028 Black All-Star Team

Jakyi Miles

6-4, 175, Mesa, Arizona

Offers:  Arizona State, Grand Canyon, Pepperdine, San Diego State, TCU, Texas Tech

Scouting Report:  “Listed at 6-foot-4 on the roster, Miles is a rangy ball handler who had several wow moments thanks to his pace, change of speeds, acumen as a scorer near the rim, and from deep. His overall feel was beyond impressive for a player who has just finished his freshman year of high school. While we’ve not exactly seen a ton of guards from the class of 2028 just yet, Miles is easily among the best we have been able to watch.” – Eric Bossi

Darren Ford

6-2, 180, Ruston, Louisiana

Offers:  Arizona State, Grambling State, Kansas State, McNeese, North Carolina State, New Orleans, Oklahoma State

Scouting Report:  “Ford is a strong and versatile combo guard who is wired to score. Because of his strength and ability to stay on balance through contact, he can pretty much bully anybody his age. For the most part he plays under control and he shows some good signs as a passer. His jump shot is going to be important to develop more along the way, but he’s going to be in the conversation for the initial 2028 ranking.” – Eric Bossi

Anthony Spratt

6-5, 180, Benton, Arkansas

Offers:  Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Jordan Mitchell

6-3, 175, Louisville, Kentucky

Rowan Phillips

6-4, 165, Warminster, Pennsylvania

Scouting Report:  “Phillips is establishing himself as one of the more prolific scorers in the E15, and there’s considerable excitement about him in the Philadelphia area. Pushing 6-foot-5 or so, he’s a pretty polished scorer who can put the ball on the floor, prove defenses for openings, and he’s already got a legitimate weapon in his pull-up jump shot. We can see why basketball people in his hometown are so excited about him.” – Eric Bossi

William Brunson

6-5, 185, Somerset, New Jersey

Offers:  Auburn, Mississippi State, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Syracuse, TCU

Scouting Report:  “At 6-foot-5 with great length and fluidity, Brunson showcased his full offensive package. He knocked down multiple threes, found open teammates, and used his handle to create space, get to his midrange pull-up and finish at the rim. He was effective scoring at all three levels and demonstrated significant growth in his pace and feel.” – DuShawn London

Logan Chwastyk

6-9, 190, Malvern, Pennsylvania

Offers:  Cal State Bakersfield, Rider

Scouting Report:  “We’ve now had the opportunity to see this promising young big man at a pair of USA Basketball events and with Team Final. He’s understandably lean and doesn’t play with much strength yet, but he isn’t scared of physicality, he runs the floor, and he’s a good presence on the rim at each end of the floor. He’s got plus hands, good touch and it’s not tough to imagine him turning into a big man who can finish lobs while being a face-up threat.” – Eric Bossi

Benji Berrouet

6-7, 200, McKinney, Texas

Offers:  Arizona State, North Carolina State, Pepperdine, SMU, Texas Tech

Scouting Report:  “He looks very comfortable setting up shop from 12 feet in and in where he does a great job of using his solid base to hold position and then has great touch and advanced feel for scoring on the interior. As good as he is with his back to the basket, he can already face the rim and make jumpers, runs the floor really well and looks to be a double-double machine at the E15 level. From the sounds of it, folks in the Dallas metro area are pretty excited about his future. From what we saw, they should be.” – Eric Bossi

Owen Edwards

6-8, 195, Arcadia, California

Amarian Leggett

6-4, 160, Hartford, Indiana

Infinite Sincere-Amen-Ra

6-0, 140, Jersey City, New Jersey

Although we did not dive into the 2029 waters, we would be remiss not to mention one freshman that many Tar Heel fans are already eyeing.  King Bacot was on hand and earned his way to the All-Star game for the classification.  Bacot already had a half dozen offers before he began his freshman year of high school.  East Carolina, George Mason, Maryland, North Carolina Central, McNeese State, and Virginia Commonwealth have already issued invites.  Â
