More and more Washington Capitals players are converging on the Washington, DC area as the calendar draws nearer and nearer to the beginning of the team’s training camp in September.
According to Monumental Sports Network’s Tarik El-Bashir, the latest players to join the informal skates at MedStar Capitals Iceplex are Dylan Strome and Trevor van Riemsdyk. The arrival of two new faces comes after last week saw Pierre-Luc Dubois, Nic Dowd, John Carlson, and Sonny Milano all jump on the ice.
The Capitals are also still being joined by a group of local pros and college players before they head off to their teams next month.

Strome, 28, is coming off a second straight season where he led the Capitals in scoring, recording a career-best 82 points (29g, 53a) in 82 games. With the 80-point year, Strome became just the fourth Caps player other than Alex Ovechkin to record an 80-point season in the Ovi era.
The Ontario native finished within the top 20 in overall NHL scoring and was also the Caps’ top scorer in the postseason, posting 11 points (2g, 9a) in 10 games. Strome has been Ovechkin’s primary centerman the past two seasons, a role he will likely keep during the 2025-26 campaign.
Van Riemsdyk, 34, is headed into his sixth season with the Capitals and coming off the first season that saw him play in all 82 games for the team. In those 82 games, TVR recorded 21 points (1g, 20a), playing primarily third-pairing minutes and a large role on one of the team’s penalty-killing units.
Next season is the final year of the 3-year, $9 million extension that TVR signed with the Capitals during the 2022-23 campaign.
The Capitals have still yet to reveal the exact dates for their 2025 Training Camp. Last year’s camp officially began on September 19.
