Wildly popular romantasy author Rebecca Yarros will come to Oregon this fall for the Portland Book Festival.
Yarros became a sensation on “BookTok” — a literary space on TikTok about all things books — after her Empyrean series gained a fan following with the release of “Fourth Wing” in 2023. She’s since published the second and third books in the series, “Iron Flame” and “Onyx Storm.”
The books have been New York Times best-sellers, each selling millions of copies. The series follows a young woman who trains to become a dragon rider ready for war.
Yarros announced on Instagram that she will be part of this year’s Portland Book Festival held by Literary Arts on Saturday, Nov. 8.
“I’ve never done an event in Portland before and I’m SO excited to get to see some of you Pacific Northwesterners!” Yarros wrote in the post.
Yarros said her appearance will be an on-stage conversation, but guests should not expect a book signing because of the venue size.
Yarros pre-empted details about the event, including its location, by posting Monday. Tickets for the event, as well as the full author lineup of the Portland Book Festival, will be available online at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Portland Book Festival is the same week that former Vice President Kamala Harris will be in the city for her book tour, also at an event hosted by Literary Arts. Tickets for the Harris event sold out in just over two hours on Friday.
