LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A coyote sighting led to a brief campus hold at a Summerlin elementary school.

Vassiliadis Elementary Principal Paul Catania told families in a message Monday that the school was placed on “hold status” because of reports of a coyote nearby.

Clark County School District Police and animal control officers were contacted.

It’s unclear if any coyotes have been located in the area.

News 3 has reached out to a Las Vegas city spokesperson for updates.

Vassiliadis Elementary School is located near Alta and Desert Foothills drives, west of the 215 Beltway.
