Police incident in Harrisburg involves wanted murder suspect

LIVE IN HARRISBURG WITH THE LATEST ON THE SITUATION. MCKENNA. YEAH. SUSAN AND JERRY, WE’RE HERE ON FOURTH AND PEPPER STREETS IN HARRISBURG. MY PHOTOGRAPHER AND I JUST ARRIVED HERE A FEW MINUTES AGO. AND WHILE WE ARE STILL WORKING TO GET SOME INFORMATION CONFIRMED, HERE’S WHAT WE KNOW AT THIS HOUR. YOU CAN GO AHEAD AND SEE THAT THERE IS STILL A LITTLE BIT OF PRESENCE OVER HERE. NOT MUCH IS CLEARED. WE ARE SEEING A FEW STRAY OFFICERS NOW. WE ARE UNSURE WHICH ROWHOME EXACTLY WAS THE SITE OF THIS INCIDENT, BUT WE DO KNOW THAT THE HARRISBURG SERT TEAM DID HAVE TO BE CALLED SEVERAL HOURS AGO FOR A SUSPECT THAT WAS WANTED FOR HOMICIDE IN NEW JERSEY, WHO HAD LOCKED HIMSELF INSIDE OF A HOME. NOW, I WAS TOLD WHENEVER I SPOKE WITH FRAN CHARDO, THE COUNTY DA, THAT THE PEOPLE INSIDE THE HOME WERE NOT THERE WHENEVER HE WAS BARRICADING HIMSELF, IT WAS UNCLEAR IF HE KNOWS THE RESIDENTS, BUT WE DO KNOW THAT WITHIN THE LAST HALF HOUR, HOUR OR SO THAT THAT SUSPECT HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY. NOW, RIGHT NOW, I’M STILL WORKING TO LEARN WHERE EXACTLY THAT PERSON WAS WANTED IN NEW JERSEY, THEIR NAME, WHERE THEY’RE BEING HELD RIGHT NOW. A police incident is currently taking place in Harrisburg, involving a suspect wanted for murder in New Jersey.The Dauphin County District Attorney said the operation was happening at 4th and Peffer streets.The Harrisburg SERT was called to the area several hours ago. The suspect locked himself inside of a home. The district attorney says the people who live at the home were not inside at the time. It’s unclear at this time if the suspect knew the residents of the home. News 8 just learned that the suspect has been taken into custody. Officials have not disclosed many details, but WGAL has a crew on scene and will provide more details as they become available.
