Hull City have agreed a deal to sign midfielder Amir Hadziahmetovic on loan from Turkish Super Lig side Bestikas in what could be their final move of the transfer window.

City owner Acun Ilicali has been in talks with his counterparts at Vodafone Park for the past few days in a bid to broker a deal that will see the 28-year-old Bosnian international arrive at the MKM Stadium.

Those talks reached a breakthrough on Monday, with the Tigers striking a season-long loan move for a midfielder that boss Sergej Jakirovic rates highly.

Now that the deal has been agreed between both clubs, the defensive midfielder will arrive in England in the next 24 hours, ready to undergo a medical in London on Wednesday, all being well.

Once that’s completed, the 30-cap international will train with the rest of Jakirovic’s squad on Thursday and will be in the squad that travels to the South West on Friday afternoon, ready for the weekend clash against Bristol City.

In order for the EFL to rubber-stamp his registration, the Tigers will need to ratify the loan move of Abu Kamara to Spanish La Liga side Getafe, which is expected in the next 24 hours.

Boss Jakirovic has been keen to add to his midfield ranks all summer, and that desire has increased in recent days with influential campaigner Matt Crooks collecting an ankle injury which has ruled him out at least until after the international break.

City had been keen to sign Lewis O’Brien and Toby Collyer this summer, so far adding John Lundstram to their ranks, but the arrival of Hadziahmetovic adds valuable experience and competition in the heart of the engine room.

Reda Laalaoui remains around the club, despite his permanent move not yet being ratified by the EFL. City remain in dialogue with the EFL in a bid to find a way forward.

Speaking to Hull Live about Hadziametovic, Jakirovic said he fitted the profile required and that the player was keen to come to the MKM Stadium.

“Yeah, of course, we need such a profile. He can improve this group for sure, number six or number eight. He has big experience. He’s almost 10 years in Turkey. That shows his quality. Besiktas have brought some players in and he’s searching where he can play. We will try to close this deal,” boss Jakirovic said.

“He’s a number six or a number eight; he can play in the middle. Last year, he played on loan with Rizespor, and then Solskjaer called him back to Besiktas, and for four months, he played for Besiktas.

“Now he’s their fourth or fifth choice in that position. I don’t know the situation now because I haven’t spoken with Ole (Gunnar Solskjaer). He’s a very good player. He’s a national team player, so he will improve the group a lot if he will come. He wants to come for sure.”
