Signalling a prospect of transforming from an agrarian to a modern economy, Uttar Pradesh is bullish on cutting edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain and quantum computing to propel future growth.
The UP government is setting up a network of Information Technology (IT) parks for employment generation.
Todya, UP houses more than 2,000 IT and ITeS (IT enabled services) units, 40+ state-of-the-art IT parks and a thriving ecosystem for startups.
The overarching goal is to position UP a global leader in emerging fields like AI, blockchain, and quantum computing, chief minister Yogi Adityanath has said recently.
Plans are afoot to establish AI cities in Lucknow and Kanpur; transforming Noida into a Global Capability Centre (GCC); facilitating at least 10 startups to become unicorns; and establishing world-class incubators in each of UP’s 18 administrative divisions.
The Yogi government will invest more than Rs 10,700 crore to develop India’s first AI City in Lucknow
While Lucknow boasts of IT majors including TCS, HCL and Sify, now IBM is setting up a software lab in the city to develop AI applications for global clients.
Interestingly, UP is looking to launch a satellite in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for disaster management and weather information.
