Child’s Play is one of those iconic horror movies that has spawned an entire franchise. Chucky first graced the screen back in 1988 and has since been featured in eight movies, two short films, and a TV series. With all of that screen time, this murderous doll has joined the ranks of all-time great slasher villains like Jason, Freddy Krueger, and Michael Myers.
If you’re looking to add the original movie to your horror collection, Amazon has just announced an exclusive new Limited Edition Steelbook. It comes with both the 4K and Blu-ray disc and will be released on October 7, 2025 – just in time for Halloween.

This isn’t the first time Chucky has gotten the 4K treatment, but it is the first time the original film has gotten a steelbook release. There is a 4K UHD collector’s edition of this movie that was released back in 2022 that you can still buy for cheaper, though it doesn’t come with the steelbook case or some of the added bonus features.
What comes with this edition
This Amazon-exclusive steelbook comes with a total of three discs, one of which includes special features. Here’s a quick rundown of each one:
Disc One (4K UHD, Feature Film): A 4K scan of the original camera negative, featuring Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Also includes audio commentary with director Tom Holland and the actors.Disc Two (Blu-ray, Feature Film): Includes all of the same details as above, but you also get additional interviews with the actors and the producer.Disc Three (Blu-ray, Special Features): This disc includes behind-the-scenes special effects footage as well as loads of different interviews and featurettes.Will There Be Any More Chucky Movies?
The Child’s Play franchise has had a good run. It’s currently one of the longest-running movie of franchises of all time, and until recently, was still getting new content. The most recent iteration of this murderous doll was the Chucky TV series, which ran for a total of three seasons on SYFY before it was cancelled in 2024.
As of right now, there are no official plans for another Child’s Play move or TV show, but seeing as the latest series was very well-received it’s definitely possible a reboot of the franchise could happen in the future. In the meantime, this new steelbook release and a collaboration with the Fanta soda brand is keeping the hope alive for more Chucky content in the years to come.
