A woman experiencing a mental health crisis was pulled from the delta waters in the City of Antioch Tuesday morning by Contra Costa County firefighters.
The incident took place Tuesday morning just before 9:00 am at I St near W 1st Street when she was on the railroad tracks holding a rail spike while yelling. When approached by officers, the woman took off and ultimately jumped into the delta water between Monica’s Riverview and the Antioch Marina. The woman began struggling in the water near vegetation which prompted Antioch Police Department officers to request a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District water rescue.
Upon arrival of firefighters in a rescue boat, the woman was rescued without any further incident. She was treated at the Antioch Marina by AMR. AMTRAK police also responded to the incident.
