Indiana Fever Star makes 25 and Under List.
On August 27, ESPN released its 25 Under 25 list, highlighting rising WNBA talent, and it featured an overlooked star from the Indiana Fever.
Aliyah Boston, often overshadowed by Caitlin Clark’s stardom, ranked third on ESPN’s 25 Under 25 list, behind Clark and Paige Bueckers at No.1 and No.2.
ESPN’s Kendra Andrews spoke about Boston’s upside and growth from her rookie season. “And Boston can still level up. Her rookie year was focused on playing in the post,” Andrews wrote.

Rebuilding Indiana
Indiana made strides in its rebuild after drafting Boston No.1 overall in the 2023 WNBA draft. As a rookie, she shouldered much of the offensive scoring responsibilities while adapting to the league.
The South Carolina product finished her rookie season averaging 14.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks while shooting 57.8% from the field. She provided the Fever with a sense of hope and direction.
Indiana finished the 2023 season with a 13-27 record. The franchise selected Clark No.1 overall in the 2024 draft. The addition of the Iowa product elevated the offensive scope of the team.
ESPN’s Andrews explained the duo’s focus as the two worked together for the first time in the 2024 season. “Last season was about evolving the pick-and-roll with Clark,” Andrews wrote.
Boston’s Growth
During the Summer, Boston focused on improving holistically. Andrews explained how the 6-foot-5 forward’s game improved from the offseason.
“During the offseason, Boston focused on conditioning, and this summer she has become a bigger part of the offense,” Andrews wrote.
“Next up is taking more 3s and becoming more of a three-level scoring threat and floor spreader.”
As the WNBA continues to grow, there is an emphasis on positionless basketball. Positions one through five are expected to be able to stretch the floor and provide versatility.
This season, Boston is averaging 15.5 points (career-high), 8.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game while shooting 54.6% from the field. As of now, she is shooting a low 22.2% from three, but she has increased her attempts per game (0.2 – 0.7).
Resilience Through Injury
Indiana has been plagued by injury throughout the season. Sydney Colson, Aari McDonald, and Sophie Cunningham suffered season-ending injuries this month.
Clark has been battling with lower-leg injuries and is now starting to ramp up on activities. The Associated Press reported on August 26 that the Fever guard is ramping up her workout and is closer to a return from her groin injury.
The Fever are coming off a 95-75 blowout win over the Seattle Storm on August 26. Boston led the team in scoring with 27 points, and Odyssey Sims (22) and Kelsey Mitchell (21) chipped in with double-digit scoring.
Indiana’s win on August 26 moved the franchise to sixth in league standings. If the playoffs started today, they would face the Las Vegas Aces, who are on an 11-game winning streak.
Indiana Remaining Schedule
The Fever has six games remaining, and three out of the six teams are above .500. The franchise will suit up again on August 29 against a scrappy Los Angeles Sparks team.
Mitchell is leading the team in scoring with 20.7 points per game. Indiana head coach Stephanie White has been strategic in rallying the troops and bringing in key hardship signings to help keep the team afloat.
Even though there is no return table for Clark, there is a possibility she will return before the playoffs.
