A Canyon Country man was arrested after he allegedly broke into a woman’s home in the early hours of Sunday.
Around 3:10 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a burglary in progress at a residence in the 19700 block of Merryhill Street in Canyon Country, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“The victim, a 54-year-old female, reported hearing a noise and discovered a male suspect inside her living room,” Miller said. “The suspect fled the residence prior to the arrival of deputies.”
When deputies arrived, they put out a description of the suspect.
Deputies searching the area located a man matching the wanted person’s description and detained him.
Chaz Karratti, 30, from Canyon Country, was identified as the person who broke into the home and was arrested for felony burglary, according to Miller.
Karratti was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station jail, and remained in custody as of Tuesday afternoon.
