The Seattle Seahawks have made a change to their secondary.

Griffin missed a fair chunk of training camp and the preseason opener against the Las Vegas Raiders due to a personal matter. After having somewhat of a career revival with the Minnesota Vikings last season, Griffin signed a one-year contract worth up to $4 million, with $1.75 million guaranteed between signing bonus and salary.

This isn’t to say that Griffin’s time in Seattle is over. Seahawks GM John Schneider indicated that Griffin will remain with the team, although in what capacity remains to be seen.

We’ve seen the team do roster musical chairs with Artie Burns in the past. For example, Griffin could wind up on the practice squad soon and be called up as a game day elevation when needed, after which point the Seahawks could either leave him on the PS or sign him to the active roster. He is a vested veteran and doesn’t have to clear waivers, so we should see the next move for Griffin imminently.
