State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris told Alabama lawmakers Wednesday that the state is expected to receive at least $100 million a year for rural health care over five years under the “One Big Beautiful Act” but much uncertainty remains about how the money can be used.
Harris, who leads the Alabama Department of Public Health, made the comments at a budget hearing at the Alabama State House.
He said much remains to be seen about the grants and other changes coming to health programs under the Trump administration.
