Denise Richards is feeling like herself again.

The actress, 54, ruptured both of her breast implants while competing on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test season 3, and received a revision surgery. The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star opened up about her decision to undergo the surgery in an Instagram video she posted on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

The video began with Richards and her surgeon, Dr. Robert Cohen, speaking to the camera minutes before she went into the operating room. She explained that she heard of Dr. Cohen through her friend and RHOBH costar Camille Grammer.

The video continued documenting Richards after her surgery. The day after the procedure, she said, “I’m feeling pretty good. I’m so happy.”

A week later, she added, “This was the first time that I’ve ever been put under where I was really calm. I’m so happy with the results.” Adding, “I can’t wait for bikini season.”

“After over a year of struggling with issues involving my implants, I finally feel healthy and confident in my body,” she wrote in the caption.

“To anyone out there navigating something similar – I’m sharing this because I’ve been there. You deserve to feel your best, and I know how overwhelming it can be to navigate everything and to find the right people you can trust,” she continued.

As she concluded, she said that she’s had implants since she was 19, and remarked how open she can be about the surgery all these years later. “Back then in the ’90s, we were all much more private than we are now. I’m so grateful that today we can be more open, support one another and share our experiences. 🙏💛.”

In January, Richards detailed the incident during an interview on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live. “I jumped off a bridge, too — and that’s when I ruptured my [breast] implants — off of that thing,” Richards said. She noted that the “harness” she was wearing for the jump was to blame for the rupture, which affected “both” of her breast implants.

She told Entertainment Weekly that after the incident, she “wanted to see a doctor.”

“I wanted to make sure that I was okay to continue with the weight and doing stuff,” she told the outlet, pointing out that the participants were carrying heavy packs of supplies at all times.

“I wanted to make sure I didn’t damage the hernias. I knew the implants, and that was something I knew I could still continue [with]. I was too embarrassed to even say anything about those. But it was where I had my surgery before with my hernias that I wanted to make sure.”

Despite suffering from the incident, Richards said she’s “very proud” of herself. “I had the guts to jump off a bridge… I was so happy. Even though I couldn’t climb in that helicopter, I was very happy. I was able to at least grab on and hang from there. I never in a million years thought I could do that.”
